IFPC Legal Center Secures Confidential Settlement for Post Falls Supervisor
IFPC Legal Center announced Oct. 19 that it obtained a confidential financial settlement for Adam Hahn, a former manufacturing supervisor at MOR Manufacturing in Post Falls.
Hahn’s case followed his dismissal after he declined to use a female name and preferred pronouns for a male colleague who identified as transgender. MOR Manufacturing made the payment last month, and the amount was not disclosed. The related filings have since been dismissed.
State, Federal and Labor Charges Filed
Earlier this year, IFPC Legal Center submitted religious-discrimination complaints for Hahn to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Idaho Human Rights Commission. The complaints cited the Idaho Human Rights Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
The organization also brought an unfair labor practice complaint before the National Labor Relations Board.
Hahn had asked MOR Manufacturing for a faith-based workplace accommodation. He also shared information with fellow employees about seeking Title VII accommodations, according to IFPC Legal Center.
MOR Manufacturing disciplined Hahn for conversations with coworkers concerning his religious beliefs. After Hahn gave the company two weeks’ notice that he planned to leave, the company terminated him in his final week and described him as a workplace “distraction.”
Military Background
Before his work in North Idaho manufacturing, Hahn served 22 years in the U.S. Army. His military record includes five combat deployments, and he holds a 100% disability rating.
Caleb Pirc of IFPC Legal Center said, “This settlement sends a strong message to employers across Idaho: You can’t fire employees for faithfully living out their Christian convictions.”
Hahn said he hopes the resolution makes clear that workers should not be subjected to discrimination because of their faith.
