Phil McGrane Thanks Idaho Voters After Re-Election
Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane thanked Idaho voters after winning re-election, saying his office will continue its work on elections, campaign-finance reporting and business filings.
McGrane became Idaho’s 28th secretary of state when he took office on Jan. 2, 2023. Before entering statewide office, he served as Ada County’s elected clerk from 2019 through 2022.
Election Administration
During his first term, the Secretary of State’s Office expanded education and training for election officials across Idaho and rebuilt the VoteIdaho.gov website. McGrane and county clerks also announced 12 principles of Idaho Elections in September 2024.
In April 2025, McGrane testified before a Senate subcommittee about Idaho’s election administration.
Office Operations
The office also made campaign-finance reporting easier and shortened the time needed to file a new business, according to the stated accomplishments from McGrane’s tenure.
McGrane is a fourth-generation Idahoan and holds degrees in philosophy, law and public administration. “We’re just getting started!” McGrane said.
