Twin Falls, Bannock Counties Open Early Voting Ahead of General Election

Early in-person voting for the November 3 general election begins Tuesday in Twin Falls and Bannock counties, marking the start of the statewide early voting period.

Idaho state law grants individual counties the authority to determine whether they offer early voting and when those periods commence. This decentralized approach results in staggered start dates across the state’s 44 counties.

Voting Schedule by Region

While Twin Falls and Bannock counties open their doors Tuesday, other major jurisdictions begin later in the month. Ada, Bonneville, Canyon, and Kootenai counties will commence early voting on October 19.

The early voting window closes uniformly across all participating counties by 5 p.m. on October 30. Voters must cast their ballots within this timeframe to ensure their votes are counted for the upcoming election.

Absentee Ballot Requirements

Voters who prefer to vote by mail rather than in person during the early voting period must adhere to a separate deadline. Requests for absentee ballots must be submitted by the end of the day on October 23.

Not all Idaho counties provide early in-person voting options. Some jurisdictions do not offer early voting but still allow residents to cast absentee ballots in person at designated locations. Voters should verify their county’s specific procedures before heading to the polls.
