Ada County Opens Filing Window for Magistrate, College Trustee, and Highway Commissioner Races

Ada County launched its candidate filing period Monday for several local offices appearing on the November 3, 2026 ballot, giving prospective candidates less than two weeks to submit their paperwork.

The Ada County Clerk is accepting declarations of candidacy through 5:00 p.m. on August 28, with filing having opened at 8:00 a.m. on August 17. All declarations must be submitted online.

Offices on the Ballot

Four positions are open in this filing cycle: Ada County Magistrate Judge seats, College of Western Idaho Trustee Zone 2, College of Western Idaho Trustee Zone 4, and the Ada County Highway Commissioner Sub-district 3 seat.

Candidates who miss the August 28 deadline still have an additional option: write-in declarations of intent are accepted through 5:00 p.m. on September 4, 2026, also completed online.

The filing notice was issued from Boise on August 19, 2026. Interested candidates can contact the Ada County Clerk’s office for filing details.

The November races come as Idaho voters have already navigated a busy 2026 primary election season, with competitive contests up and down the ballot drawing heightened statewide attention this cycle.
