Idaho DSA Denies Endorsing Senator Jim Risch

A mass text sent to registered Republican voters in Idaho claimed the Democratic Socialists of America endorsed Republican U.S. Sen. Jim Risch for re-election, but Idaho DSA chapters said they did not send the message.

The text urged recipients to vote for Risch on Nov. 3 and criticized Matt Loesby and Todd Achilles. It also referenced Risch’s nearly two decades in the Senate.

“The Idaho chapters of DSA want to be clear that the mass texts endorsing Senator Risch did not originate with DSA,” the chapters said in a statement.

Risch and DSA were both unaware of the message before it circulated, and the sender was not identified. Risch’s campaign team had not responded to a request for comment.

The DSA chapters said their authentic communications focus on the interests of working-class Idahoans.
